Young Writers’ Essential (G1-G3)

Writing is an essential skill that can benefit students for the rest of their lives. Writing exercises for young students support development of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Mastering writing at an early age is associated with higher outcomes on standardized testing and overall performance in school. Going through the writing process from outline to finished product can help to translate the writing stills into mastering other aspects of life such as planning, organizing, and research skills. The mission of Apex Young Writer course is to introduce and practice narrative writing, informational writing, opinion writing with the integration of engaging fun activities. Learning how to write like a writer through the Apex Young Writer course will foster young students’ confidence and develop a lifelong love of writing.

Young Writers’ Club (G1-G3)

After finishing Young Writer Essential class, students are welcome to join the ongoing Young Writers’ Club. Young Writers’ Club will help students deepen their writing fundamentals and strengthen their writing skills. Through this ongoing course, students will continue practice writing with our experienced teacher on various writing styles and prompts. Not only utilize the knowledge and skills learned during the level one course, students will study more writing styles and broader writing skills. We extremely encourage students who have finished Young Writer Essential class or a similar course to join the Apex Young Writers’ Club to bring students to excel in the next level of writing skills.

Creative Writing Fundamental (G4+)

Creative writing is any writing that goes outside the bounds of normal forms of literature, emphasis on narrative craft, character development, and the use of literary tropes. In this course, students not only focus on the writing process, but they will also learn how to create memorable characters, learn point-of-view, add details and emotions to their stories, craft poems, and embellish their prose. Through these four-weeks of writing practices, students will create imaginary/adventure stories, a poem, start a journal, and craft a letter.

Creative Writing Club (G4+)

Having been successfully equipped with numerous writing foundations through Creative Writing Fundamental study, students are welcome to join the Apex Creative Writing Club.

It is an expansion of the Creative Writing Fundamental class, and provides the opportunity of routine practices to fine tune writing each element, broaden the range of writing techniques, and apply various effective writing skills through different writing styles, writing prompts, peer critique, and instructor advice. For the outstanding students’ work, there may be opportunities to submit for youth competition or publication with our instructor guidance.  

Apex Creative Writing Club encourages students to join, and is ready to bring them to excel in the next level of writing skills.
