Apex Creative Art Classes
Children’s creativity, passion, and many important life skills stem from art education. Apex Creative Art classes teach students to utilize multiple mediums, pens, brushes, etc, to enhance their fine motor skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and boost students’ memory, increase their open-mindedness and maximize their creativity.

Throughout the fun and unique art courses, Apex Creative Art education guides students to build confidence and independence in their own process of creating.
Apex Creative Art Class Structure
Level 1
Drawing: Fundamentals and Concepts. Students will learn about the basics of drawing, thoughts behind a drawing, establishing drawing techniques, finding their favorite by trying out multiple dry mediums like pencil, color pencil, crayon, marker, collage, and more. The class will also introduce important drawing artists from different cultures, historical and contemporary. The class will open up the imaginative world of drawing to students, offering rich options for kids who are interested in art-making.
Level 2
Drawing and Painting: Watercolor Basics and Watermedia. Students will learn about the basics of painting, thoughts behind paintings, watercolor, and water-based mediums like acrylic and ink. The class will also introduce important painters from different cultures, historical and contemporary. This is a slightly advanced class for kids who have basic knowledge of drawing. It introduces the elegant nature and colorful possibility of water-based mediums and painting knowledge.
Level 3
Painting: Mixed mediums Experimentation. Students will experiment and learn about multiple mediums and techniques of painting and image-making, like process painting, digital painting, layers, basic printmaking, and more. The class will mainly focus on traditional art-making techniques, but also introduce the basic knowledge of digital drawing and painting as part of the options. The outcome of this class will be creative artworks made from many different mediums based on students’ strengths and interests. The class will also introduce important artists from different cultures, historical and contemporary. This class is a more advanced level for students who have basic knowledge of drawing and painting, and are interested in richer ways of image-making.
Level 4
Workshop: Personalized Portfolio. Students will learn through a personalized workshop, via demonstration, practice, and feedback. The class will be constructed based on students’ strengths and passions. Our instructor will help students create artworks for competitions and art portfolios.
Apex Professional Artist Teacher
Mr. Sui
Mr. Sui is an award-winning painter, illustrator, and art educator, who holds a MFA degree in Curatorial Practice from Maryland Institute College of Art and a BFA in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design. As an artist, Mr. Sui specializes in watercolor, acrylic, mixed mediums, drawing, and printmaking. Mr. Sui is an award winner at numerous places, and produced art exhibitions in Los Angeles and Baltimore, as well as online exhibition & printed publication.
As an experienced educator, Mr. Sui is patient and kind. He encourages his students to be curious, be creative, develop skills, generate ideas, seek challenges, solve problems and develop confidence in themselves and their ideas. Mr. Sui is thrilled to share his rich art knowledge and creativity with young minds and celebrate the beauty of art with Apex students. He is passionate and ready to bring an art education program with an emphasis on teaching for the development of creativity to Apex students.
